Hyperion named Morningstar Australian Fund Manager of the Year 2016
We are pleased to announce that Hyperion Asset Management scored a hat trick at the Morningstar Awards 2016, winning the top spot as the Morningstar Australian Fund Manager of the Year and taking the prize in both the Domestic Equities – Large Caps Category and the Domestic Equities – Small Caps Category.
Hyperion Chief Investment Officer, Mark Arnold, said that the coveted awards are an affirmation of Hyperion’s investment approach and its ability to deliver consistent long term outperformance.
“It is the fourth time we have won the Domestic Equities – Small Caps Category and the second time we have won the Domestic Equities – Large Caps Category.
“The Morningstar Awards recognise quality and excellence in investment management, values that are core to Hyperion’s philosophy of focusing on long-term investing in high-quality companies to secure sustainable returns.
“Hyperion’s success strategy has been based on owning high-growth names such as Domino’s Pizza Enterprises and REA Group. These are businesses with a clear sustainable competitive advantage that are positioned to deliver growth over the long term,” said Mr Arnold.
To receive the overall Morningstar Australian Fund Manager of the Year Award, a fund manager must have had strong returns across multiple award categories or have delivered an outstanding outcome for investors.
Mr Arnold said: “Hyperion takes a bottom up high conviction approach focusing on businesses that offer strong and sustainable value propositions to their key stakeholders and that exhibit above average long-term structural growth characteristics.”
The judges of the Morningstar Awards particularly singled out the quality of Hyperion’s Investment Team and solid 20-year track record as key to the overall award-win.
“The stability and experience of the Hyperion investment team is crucial to our ability to deliver for investors. Winning the overall Morningstar award is testament to both our team and our process.
“Our commitment to delivering strong long-term performance for our investors is ever constant and we have a very positive and well known track record in Australian equities. We strongly believe – and have increasing evidence – that the merits of our approach are not only proven across sectors, but can be applied with similar success elsewhere. There’s definitely more to come from Hyperion,” concluded Tim Samway, Managing Director of Hyperion.
We would like to send out a big thank you to Morningstar for awarding Hyperion Asset Management and we would of course like to thank our long standing and loyal clients without whom any of this would be possible.
